CROESO (WELCOME) TO WALES
Sunday 6th/Monday 7th October 2019
Sunday
We make our way to Wales with comfort stop enroute to
Llancaiach Fawr Manor & the year 1645 home to Colonel Prichard. We explore the house with the staff of Colonel Prichard if he is not at home.
Late afternoon we all make way to our hotel for the evening
The Parkway Hotel & Spa @ Cwmbran run by the de Savary family and set in 7 acres. Enjoy a walk or use of leisure facilities before dinner.
Monday
After breakfast we make our way to St. Fagans National Museum of History outside Cardiff. Since 1948 over forty original buildings from different historical periods have been re-erected in the 100-acre parkland, among them houses, a farm, a school, a chapel and a splendid Workmen's Institute. Craftsmen still demonstrate their traditional skills. Their produce is usually on sale.
After we visit the Rhondda Heritage Park to see & hear about Welsh life with a tour guide a retired miner, nobody knows the coal industry better than them.
See the Trefor & Bertie Engine Houses & into the original lamp room ready for your journey underground (for those who want)
We finish the day off with the only way - a cup of tea and Welsh Cakes.
